A special envoy of the US President, Jeff Landry, has arrived in Greenland. He explained that the purpose of the visit was to establish direct contacts with the local residents.

Landry will be accompanied by a doctor who will assess the island's medical needs. The United States is ready to provide this assistance.

Greenland's Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, stated that the Greenlandic people cannot be bought, and some Greenlanders viewed the arrival of the Americans with distrust.

Landry was accompanied by a local pro-American activist, Jørgen Boassen, who attended Trump's inauguration and serves as a US representative in Greenland.
