Greenland's Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, stated that the Greenlandic people cannot be bought, and some Greenlanders viewed the arrival of the Americans with distrust.

Landry was accompanied by a local pro-American activist, Jørgen Boassen, who attended Trump's inauguration and serves as a US representative in Greenland.
